Nov. 3rd, 1866.

Mr. F. J. Bancroft, M. D.
Denver, Colorado.

Sir:

Your favor of the 23rd inst. has come to hand.

We have a number of physicians and surgeons in this City at the present time, as many, it seems to me, as can find profitable employment in their profession. In fact, there are a number of Medical men here, with whom I am acquainted, who, not finding business in their profession, have turned their attention to other pursuits. The country is a healthy one, and doctors do not receive much patronage. Our community here are generally averse to employing physicians if they can possibly avoid doing so.

I have given you as plain a statement as I can respecting this matter.

I am Very Respectfully

Brigham Young
