Dear Brother:

Your favor of yesterday's date has been received. I should have no objections to your settling at Round Valley, if you will go there and make a good Fort that will be secure against all attacks on Indians. To be safe there <you> should have be twenty or thirty men <living> in the Fort and never less than ten at home
