Messrs. A.R. Whitehead and James Davidson, Cotton factory, Washington, Washington Co.

Dear Brethren:

I wish Bro. Whitehead to keep the a/cs. of the Mill and hands for the present and until further orders; but I do not want him to instruct me or any one else to draw orders on the Factory, or to charge the Factory with orders or amounts; every A/C, should be kept separate, and orders should be charged to the individuals in whose favor they are drawn. I wish you to pay the hands who work in the Factory for what they do, and not for the time they spend. They may have the yarn at Six dollars ($6) which is the cash price. I am intending to sell cotton yarn at Six dollars ($6) per bunch hereafter; in swapping for cotton you can let a bunch go for every twelve (12) pounds of good cotton. As quickly as you possibly can I wish you to have two sets of hands put to work, each set to work ten (10) or eleven (11) hours so as to have the Mill run twenty (20) or twenty-two (22) hours out of each twenty-four (24) hours. Bro. Erastus Snow has promised to let me have his old mill to store cotton in. The room which we talked about for the storage of cotton I have made arrangements to have built at the South of the Factory as soon as practicable. Should Bro. John R. Young and his family wish to work in the Mill set him to warping, and as quickly as you can I would like you to teach him the other branches -- to spin, to reel & everything he can -- that he may make himself useful, & his family also learn to spin, &c. Whatever cloth of my manufacture yourselves or the hands want you can draw from Bro. Bentley at St. George. You can also draw whatever vegetables and molasses &c you need from the Tithing Office, & have me charged & the Tithing Office credited with the amount.

Your Brother
(Signed)
