General Superintendent U.P.R.R.
Omaha.

Dear Sir:

Yours of the 30th March enclosing the "Annual Pass" for 1867 over your road, was received while I was absent on a visit to the extreme southern settlements in our Territory, from which I returned a few days ago. Please accept my thanks for your attention and kindness.

Times are very dull in this city at present in merchandising; but this does not affect our people so seriously as it would many. We have been accustomed to live without having much of the circulating medium, and its scarcity will have the effect of causing our people to pay more attention to home manufactures. Peace and good health prevail throughout the Territory. The season has been very backward; but everything is growing finely at present, and our prospect is good for a plentiful crop of fruit and cereals. Grasshoppers have made their appearance in some of our northern counties; but whether they will damage the crops or not, remain to be seen.

With kind regards, I am, respectfully
Brigham Young

P.S.
My son Heber, with whom you are acquainted, will probably hand this letter to you. He is en route to Europe. Any attentions you may render him will be appreciated by

Yours truly
B.Y.
