Dear Sister:

Your letter of the 12th June with a certificate signed by your friends and neighbors, giving your character for being a good neigbor and an exemplary woman, &c. has been received. I have received no complaint or accusation against you, and really know nothing, one way or the other, about you. All I know is what you told me yourself. You should not, therefore, give yourself any concern about stories which you have heard have been sent to me. I know nothing about the difficulty between yourself and Bro. Fellowes only what you told me, and really know not how to get at it.
