Dear Brother:

Sister Thomas, the wife of Elijah Thomas, has been to see me in relation to her circumstances. He has spent some $8,000.00 for her; but for the past three years and a half she has only had $3.50 and a pair of shoes from him. She has lived with her son; but he has lately married, and she cannot do so well as she has done. Her health is feeble and she is not able to do much for her own living. Bro. Thomas should render her assistance and help her to live; but if you ask him to do anything for her, he will very likely make a poor mouth, and plead his inability to do anything. You can learn his circumstances, however, and find out how he is situated, and have him render Sister Thomas the help she needs. If I would write directly to Bro. Thomas, that would be the last of it. Answer immediately. Nothing new has transpired since I last wrote to you.

With love
Your Brother
