Dear Sir:

Your favor of the 20th of August, asking what steps to take to put yourself in communication with an agent of our Church in that part of the country, has been received. By addressing a letter to Mr. John Brown, care of Mr. Benjamin Crain, Duquoin, Illinois, you will obtain any information you may need, and probably Mr. Brown, or some other of our elders may make it convenient to have a personal interview with you if it is desired. I am writing Elder Brown by this mail and I will give him your address, and probably he will write you, or if one of our elders should be in Cincinnati he may direct him to call upon you.

We have trains crossing the Plains every season, but it is too late this present year to undertake the journey.

Praying the Lord to direct you aright in your search for truth, I remain,

Respectfully
Brigham Young
