President's Office,
Gt. Salt Lake City,
Sept. 30th, 1867.

Elder John Brown,
Care of Mr. Benj. Crain,
Duquoin, Illinois.

Dear Brother:

I have just received a letter, a copy of which I enclose, from a woman who signs herself Elizabeth Matthews. She was baptized into the Church when she was a girl, but has been separated from our people since the expulsion from Missouri. She appears to be anxious to renew her connection with the Church, and it may be convenient for yourself or some other elder to visit her vicinity in Indiana.

Since I last wrote, my sons Brigham, Junr. and John W. with Brigham, Junr's. family, and a number of other returned missionaries have arrived. They have come in ahead of the train of emigrating Saints, who will probably reach here in ten days or a fortnight. The weather is very pleasant, and labor is progressing. The New Tabernacle is nearly ready for Conference.

With love.
Your Brother

Brigham Young
