Dear Sir:

Your favor of the 4th of October came safely to hand. A living can be made in this country by any industrious, prudent man, but not always by following the profession to which he may have been accustomed in early life. Good boo, keepers can generally get employment. We have a great many Clerks, professional men and others who, when they came here, could not get employment at the business they had been accustomed to, and who have adopted farming and other employments to sustain themselves and those dependent upon them.

I am,
Respectfully,

Brigham Young
