Dear Sir:-

Your note of enquiry dated 6th inst Came to hand in due course of mail. We have no system of Free Schools in this Territory, but we have numbers of Competant teachers who are kept pretty busy during the winter months but are generally compelled to turn their attention to other employment during spring, summer and fall.

I cannot insure your obtaining employment in your particular vocation, for those who would build up a new country must of necessity be able to labor at many trades

Very Respectfully
Brigham Young
