Mr. James Lavender

Dear Brother:

Your letter of Feb. 25th has been received, and as President B. Young is absent at Provo, and will not return for a week probably yet, I think it best to answer it.

We can see nothing to be accomplished by your staying going to your native land to see your sister with some other friends that you cannot accomplish by staying here. If your friends are in the Church, then the means which you would spend in going to see them, could be better used in sending for them. If they are not in the Church, then you could with great propriety, at the present time, forego the pleasure of seeing them and deposit the money you would be likely to spend in going, to help out the poor Saints.

I am Your Brother,
Daniel H Wells
