Dear Brother:-Bro. Erastus Snow is now on his way to your part of the country and it would be advisable to lay the matter before him.

I am opposed to the brethren settling on land lying immediately in the nighbourhood, of land which the Indians occupy; for the Stock of the brethren will destroy crops which are not fenced. Therefore it will prevent difficulty if the brethren will be cautious and reach out no farther than they can retain their balance. If the brethren can assist the Indians all right, but wisdom should be used in all these matters.
