Know all men by these presents:-

That the bearer, Prof. David O. Calder, Territorial Treasurer and Principal of the Mercantile Department of the University of the State of Deseret, is hereby authorized and required to procure fonts of type in the Deseret alphabet, and to have school books printed in said type -- the sizes and weights of said fonts and the kinds and numbers of said books to be as he may be directed by the Chancellor and Regents of said University -- and we cordially commend Prof. Calder as a gentleman of tried integrity and responsibility.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at Salt Lake City, Territory of Utah, this twentieth day of May. A. D. 1868.
