Dear Sister:

I have perused your letter asking my counsel, and have to inform you, what you already know, that Fred is poor, has nothing, and I do not see how he can, at present, do any thing for himself or any one else.

Such being the case. I see no way but for you to manage the best you can until such time as he may be able to help you.
