Sir,

Your letter of inquiry concerning passage to Salt Lake City is to hand. It is not consistent with the amount of means we have to use for various public purposes, to extend to you the assistance you wish, but should you desire and be enabled to come here, doubtless your cheapest route would be to travel by rail to Council Bluffs, and thence make your way westward on the Union Pacific Railroad.
