Dear Brethren,

I have recently had an interview with Mr. S.B. Reed, during which he expressed himself disappointed with the progress made on the heavy rock work on my contract. He referred more particulary to the little which seemed to be doing on the tunnels, and thought that unless there were at least five drills run, where there is now but one, that they would not be finished according to contract. So far as regards my own feelings I would like to see from 10 to 15 drills running instead of one at each side of all the tunnels.

I think in view of the above and the immense amount of heavy work yet to be done, it would be as well for you to sublet to responsible parties all the lighter parts of your work in the upper canon and confine your entire energies to a very few of the heaviest points.

Brethren I wish you to forward this work with all possible speed.

Your brother in the Gospel.
