Dear Sir;

Your favor of the 31st ult. is before me. I can readily appreciate the difficulties that lie in your pathway while seeking comfort and happiness, midst the perverted systems of modern Christianity, "having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof; but to us "the Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation to every one that believeth," and obedience to its laws brings the same Blessings, the same knowledge, the same powers as were possessed and enjoyed by the ancient people of God, when Jesus and his immediate followers ministered unto them the Words of Eternal Life. With the power thus endowed no one need feel weary of life for all have the privilege of helping to make their fellow men better and happier.

It would be, however, impossible in the space of one short letter to give the information you need with regard to the laws our Heavenly Father has in His mercy revealed in these days, for the Salvation of Mankind; I will therefore, respectfully refer you to Mr. David M. Stewart of 2006 North 14th St. St. Louis. Mo. who will be pleased to forward you any books containing our Doctrine, you may desire, or send some Elder of our Church to acquaint you with the Principles and Doctrines believed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Praying God, our Eternal Father, to bless you and lead you into all Truth,

I am, Your's Respectfully.
Brigham Young
