Mr. Abinadi Pratt

Dear Bro:

Your letter of August 31. is before me. I am sorry to hear you still suffer so intensly and that your sufferings have such a marked effect in depressing your spirits. At the same time I would encourage you, as a Latter-day Saint to bear all things patiently, to live before the Lord, by night and day, so that you may realize you have his blessing and approval with you. Do nothing but what you feel will bring the blessing of the Lord, then you can confidently claim his spirit to console you in the midst of all your afflictions and bodily suffering. It is your privilege to enjoy a portion of this spirit whose fruits are peace, joy, hope and faith. Be comforted, and may the blessing of the Lord rest and increase upon you is the prayer of

Your Brother,

Brigham Young
