Gentlemen:-

Your favor of the 12th inst is received. The scheme of erecting gas works in this city is not as yet sufficiently matured for me to write you anything definitely on the subject; and as you do not give me any information in your note as to the material of which your pipe is made I cannot judge if it would supply the necessities of this climate and country
