Dear Sir,

I had the pleasure a few days ago of receiving from the hands of your Sister, Mrs. Alteresto, the very fine sample of California grapes, you so kindly sent me, accompanied by your favor of the 3rd inst., inclosing the donors photograph.

I expressed my thanks to Mrs. Atteresto at the time for your kind consideration, and to her as the bearer of your gift to me, but told her, I should take an early opportunity of expressing my thanks direct to you of which I now have the pleasure of doing.

I also handed to Mrs. Atteresto for you a photographic portrait of myself which my friends inform me is a very good likeness.

I should be pleased to have you send me a few cuttings of the same kind of grapes, also some information with regard to them, their name, how many months of warm weather they require to ripen, and any other particulars you deem necessary for their successful cultivation. On receipt of your account will forward payment.

Believe me to remain,
Yours Very truly,

Brigham Young
