Thos. J. Stayner,

Dear Bro.

I have just received your letter for advice which I now reply to, thanking you for the confidence you express in my counsels. I wish to see the brethren prosper & there is no limit to the prosperity it is their privilege to enjoy; but, true prosperity cannot live outside the limits of righteousness therefore, your reply to Mr Walker was proper & discreet.

Am I to understand that you will represent the same Amount of capital Walker Bros. now employ in merchandizing? & with regard to the amount of tithing you intend to pay? On these points, were you a little more explicit I could give you an immediate reply.

Yours in the Gospel
Brigham Young
