Dear Sir:

Owing to the present scarcity of currency in this market, it will oblige me very much, if you can do so, to arrange to make payment of my December estimate in currency. Indeed it is so scarce that the Banks, are giving I understand, a premium for currency of from ¾ to 1 percent. Rendering it almost impossible for me to procure the amounts necessary to pay the men.
