Sir:-
I am instructed by Prest Young to say in regard to the English Ivy that he submitted the Subject to his gardener; whose report to me is substantially as follows:-- "I am of the opinion that the English Ivy will grow here on the bench land, and even without attention.

In England I have put a slip or cutting into the ground in any common soil, and it was certain to take root and grow."

I forward this without the President's signature, as he has left home for a few days.
