Dear Sir,

Yours of the 27 ult. for advice has come to hand.

I can assure you the Latter-day Saints find this a hard enough country to live in. As a people we have made this country our home because we were in a great measure compelled thereto. Whether you would abide here with as little pecuniary inducements as we have had, since, as you say, your object is to make money, I am not prepared to say.
