Mr. James Barkley,
Carlyle, Ill.

Dear Sir,

Yours of the 7th inst. has come to hand which I have read with much interest.

We have many common school teachers here -- men of various attainments; as well as a few professors of the high school, all of whom it would seem find employment.

The Latter-day Saints, embrace in <their faith> the Gathering as they do, for example, the doctrine of "Baptism for the remission of Sins" and act thereon as soon as their circumstances will permit; putting their trust in Him above who has said "It is my business to provide for my Saints."

With fervent desires in behalf of every honest Seeker after truth,

I remain,
Yours with respect.
