Since I wrote to you I have tried your "Submerged Pump," & so far as my observation extends. I have reason to believe it to be a decided improvement on anything of the kind hitherto brought to my notice.

I intend to order several of them, & will write you again as to the Number & Size of each Pump required with a view to have them forwarded here immediately on the completion of the Central Pacific Railroad to this vicinity which I trust will be at an early date.
