Gentlemen:-

Your communication of 16th ult. is received, wishing me to remit the sum of $2.64 which you claim from me for prepaying postage on some articles ordered by Mr. Joseph Birch. I yield to your request and enclose the sum specified, but I do not know anything at all about the articles you refer to. Mr Joseph Birch has hired my cotton machinery, and if he has used my name in any way, he had no authority for doing so, and will doubtless settle everything up all right with you.

Respectfully Yours,
Brigham Young
