The completion of the railroad will bring outsiders. There is no Utah legislation detrimental to Insurance businesses but they are not popular with the people.

Dear Sir:

Your interesting letter has come to hand which I have read with some pleasure.

We anticipate that many strangers will visit this Section now that locomotion is so easy. & since you say it is your intention to visit us. I will be pleased to have you call for a friendly chat.

I know of no Legislative enactment in this Territory detrimental to the business of Insurance, in fact, several companies have agents here now; The Union Fire, of Cal. & The New York Life. The Phoenix & the Manhattan I believe are also represented; but the Subject is not popular here & in my opinion it is extremely doubtful whether at the present time any Insurance Agent would be able to earn subsistence if dependent on that alone; however, a trip here may afford you some healthful enjoyment at least which is always profitable & should you come I repeat I will be glad to see you.

Yours with respect
Brigham Young
