Dear Sir:-

Your communication with reference to Cotton & Woollen Machinery has been received.

It is true that we are Operating both Cotton & Wollen Machinery & may import more; but if we do, it will be new Machinery with the latest improvements.

We experience much the same difficulty that you allude to in Manufacturing -- our capitalists are generally more interested in importing than producing; the latter not being considered a paying business. We hope however to be able to persevere till we can raise the raw material & manufacture our own fabrics. Silk, Woollen & Cotton.

Thanking you for your proposition,

I remain
Yours with respect

Brigham Young
