Elder Orson Hyde,

Dear Bro:-

As the result of an interview I had with Bishop Sheets I write this to inform you that I think it perfectly justifiable for the Co-operative Mercantile Institutions in San Pete County to purchase from the Cooperative House at Provo City, provided, -- that the Citizens of San Pete can thereby have their Merchandize as low as they could by dealing at the Wholesale House in Salt Lake City. It is probable they can, taking into consideration the time & expense saved in travelling from Provo to this City & also the advantage of turning the money over often instead of keeping a stock on hand. This is a part of the economy of the system, for instead of every small district each sending its branch agent & teams to purchase & freight from Salt Lake City, one man does the work of many. Retail Houses can do a wholesale business at certain suitable points & by close calculation & a small discount allowed them on large purchases they sustain themselves & are able to accomodate the retail stores doing a small business in their locality.

Yours in the Gospel
Brigham Young
