Dear Sir:-

Yours of the 18th inst. has been received wherein you ask me to send you a "Mormon Bible."

We have but one Bible which we hold and esteem as such both in faith and practice, and that is King James' translation of the Old and New Testaments.

There is a Book called the "Book of Mormon" which the Latter-day Saints believe to be true; this is doubtless the one you allude to. I have mailed a copy to you. The price thereof including postage is Two dollars. The Book of Mormon contains an original history of the aboriginies of this continent, showing their origin, their manners and customs and the causes of their present degraded condition. It also
furnished collateral evidence with the Holy Scriptures of the divine truths of Christianity and is itself substantiated by incontrovertible evidence. Besides the testimony of the spirit of truth, there is a host of external evidence which is constantly increasing for be it remembered the Book of Mormon was published to the world before the works of Josiah Priest. Catherwood & Stephens & other travellers whose observations prove most conclusively that the history recorded in the Book of Mormon is not only probable but absolutely true.

However I have sent you the Book which you can read and judge of for yourself.

Yours with respect
Brigham Young
