Dear Bro:-

Yours to the President of the 14th inst. has been received, which in his absence, I have read, as instructed.

I am sorry to hear of your "bad fix" as you term it, it is a serious matter for your small settlement, but I think that if you will get up a Petition addressed to Supt. S.B. Reed, setting forth all the facts in the case & signed by the parties interested, it is quite probable that something will be done in the premises.

In my judgement, it would be much more advisable even to cut the ditch yourselves & trust to compensation from the Railroad Company afterwards than to give up the cultivation of the land.

Hoping, however, that the Railroad authorities will assist you forthwith, & that you will be blessed prospered in this & in every righteous undertaking.
