Salt Lake City. U.T.
April 23. 1869.

Messrs. R.H. Brand and Samuel McDonald.

Dear Sirs:-

Yours of the 8th inst. has been received. Prest Young has gone from home for a few weeks but I will say in his absence, that we do intend constructing a Branch Railroad from Ogden to this City at no very distant date. What persons may be selected to operate on the line I cannot tell; but I think it probable, that more than enough can be had in this Territory without injury to any other department.

However I will present your letter to the President on his return & if he has anything further to communicate, you will doubtless hear from him.

Geo. A. Smith
