Dear Sir:

By some unaccountable oversight, receipt of your box of Grape cuttings was unacknowledged. I will say therefore in behalf of the President (who has gone south for a few weeks) that they came safe to hand -that they were placed in the hands of his gardener & others & will doubtless be well cared for; he further desired me to return you his sincere thanks for the same. & to wish you every success in your horticultural pursuits.
