Dear Bro. Richens,

While in your County I learned with regret that you, at least tacitly, excused the people of Hennefferville from paying Cash tithing, on the grounds, that during the year they had lost as much, and more than they had earned; or in other words, as they were no richer at the end of the year than at the beginning, they need not pay Cash or other tithing. This is incorrect. If $10.00, or $100.00 are earned, a tenth is
immediately due the Church in tithing. So with grain, hay, Stock &c &c.
