Dear Sir,

Your note soliciting permission to camp at the mouth of City Creek Canon is just received. That point is controled by private parties and consequently not in my power to grant. The Washington Square, commonly known as the Eighth Ward Square is inclosed and belong to the City, and you can camp there in welcome, and is a place devoted to that purpose.
