Dear Cousin:-

I received your interesting letter a few days ago & now embrace the earliest opportunity of writing you a few words in return.

I recollect your Parents well, the Photograph sent bears quite a family resemblance.

I am happy to inform you that I am well -- generally in the enjoyment of good health. On the 1st of this month I was 68 years of age though I am the youngest of five brothers now living, all hearty, & to a greater or less extent either engaged in Farming pursuits, or travelling through the Territory as their Ecclesiastical duties may require. Their names beginning with the eldest John; Joseph; Phineas; then myself and Lorenzo.

It is not at all likely that I shall visit Mass. but as you are engaged in the travelling business, it is not unlikely that at an early date you may visit us here, and if so I shall be pleased to have you call upon me.

At your request my secretary will furnish you a card.

I start to-morrow to permanently locate that portion of our Railroad connecting Salt Lake City with the Pacific Railroad; the grading is commenced and we expect in a very few months to have the road completed.

I subscribe myself with best regards

Brigham Young
