Dear Sir:--

Your letter of the 12th inst. to Prest B. Young has been received. He has gone on a tour through a portion of the Territory leaving me to attend to his correspondence.

I will briefly say in reference to your application that there are among our own people, at the present time, a sufficient number of Engineers & Surveyors for all the business, which is not extensive. so that I do not suppose the idea of sending abroad for Engineers likely to be entertained.

Yours with respect
Geo. A. Smith
