Dear Sir:-

I was much gratified to find from your answer to my telegram of the 20th that you had caught the idea. The land question has occupied a large share of our attention especially since the opening of the Land Office. We are very anxious that the brethren should secure their lands, & not only secure them, but where there is any probability of their claims being disputed, as in a mining district, to take every precaution to prevent it.

This has been our counsel uniformly throughout the Territory. We do not know what in the Providences of the Almighty may be brought to pass with regard to Gold Mining in our midst, but our faith has always been & is to day that the Lord deposited      of the earth to be hid up until his own due time.       the Elders to create & stir up excitement naturally inviting hell into our midst. Our faith and energies should rather be to protect ourselves from the world
