Dear Bro:-

Yours of the 17th was received amid a press of business which has prevented my writing to you sooner, although I telegraphed to you to nominate Franklin S. Richards as a candidate for the Office of County Recorder next election.

I was sorry to hear that you had been an invalid & badly afflicted in your eyes but I sincerely trust that you are now, if not quite recovered, at least in a fair way towards it. Your conjecture with regard to the County Records is correct. We are particularly anxious that the Land Records should be strictly kept to avoid any difficulties that might otherwise occur. Without any disparagement to Bro Walter Thompson we suggested that your son Franklin should fill the Office of County Clerk & Recorder because he could give his undivided attention to this business. & would be under your personal supervision

If it is of no use to copy the past Court records, better not do it; but let proper attention be paid to them, from this time forth. I have nothing to say with regard to the coming election; had I seen your proposed ticket I might have formed my judgment thereon. but, as it is you must do the best you can. Mem.-- The President started at 7:30 a.m. this (26.th) for Provo. without signing this. it was written however at his dictation; he will be gone 4 or 5 days. & I concluded to forward it just as it is.

Your brother in the Gospel
D. McKenzie
