Mr. Bushnell,
Office of the Union Pacific R. R. Co.
Boston.

Dear Sir:-

I was somewhat surprised upon your return from California, that your business did not allow you to call upon me, as by your request I had prepared my papers ready for a settlement, which I understood you to say, you would make when you returned; but as you proceeded east with the cars, I appointed Mr Jno Sharp of this city, my Attorney, to go to Boston and receive payment, where he has been some time, but I do not learn that there has been anything done.

I fully coincide with the statement that you made to me, "it was a good thing for us (the U P R Co.) that your people did" "this work,"--for no others would have waited so long without disturbance, and I solicit, in behalf of the thousands who did the work and have waited from half to three quarters of a year for their pay, your influence in obtaining for Mr Sharp immediate payment of my accounts, which will very much oblige

Yours respectfully

Brigham Young
