Dear Sir:-

Your letter & circular relative to the manufacture of gas, have been received. The subject of manufacturing Portable Gas is now engaging some attention. I understand that Mr. H. B. Clawson of this City will shortly receive a gas generator of some description from the east. I cannot give you any encouragement to come here at the present time, business is extremely dull, but I will place your circular in the hands of Mr. Clawson for his attention.
