Mrs. Mary H. White
Beaver City,

Dear Sister:--

I have received your letter with reference to your Son. This is a matter concerning which I have had but one opinion from the first and I see no reason now to change it.

There is no excuse for the Boy's conduct for not only did he have connection with the girl once, but he continues his intercourse with her, proving that whatever repugnance he might have to marry her, he had none when the gratification of his lust was concerned.

If he thought her unfit to be his wife, he should have let he alone, but, instead of that he continues to associate with her & I see no just atonement he can make for his fault without marrying her.

If the Bishop and his associates approve his baptism & his marriage with a white girl they can do so, but not with my sanction.

Your Brother in the Gospel.
