Gen. Supt. U. P. R. R.
Uintah.

Dear Sir:-

Yours of the 20th has just been received.

With regard to payment for "Engine 15;" your proposition to me of Oct. 7th was to send the engine in part payment of paper given by the U. P. R. R. to my Attorney John Sharp at Boston.

Bearing in mind that 10 months have elapsed since payment was due me, was it unreasonable to ask that the endorsement be made on the last note? And, especially so, when we are paying a high price for our materials.

But I have no wish to be strenuous in regard to this matter, being mainly desirous that what we require for the completion of our branch road be promptly forwarded. Your valued co-operation in this matter is & will be highly appreciated.

Yours with respect.
