Dear Bro:-

Having but recently returned from our trip to San pete & being crowded with business almost ever since, your favor of the 24th inst. with accompanying specimens have just been brought to notice.

The specimens appear to be very good, sufficiently so at least to warrant the securing of the leads & holding them in good hands; but I do not consider it prudent to make any noise about them, or to attempt to develop them at the present time; still they should be secured.

We had a very interesting trip to San pete; in eleven days we travelled about 300 miles & held 27 meetings. The weather was favorable & the meetings were well attended. The teachings embraced a large variety of topics affecting the welfare of the Saints temporally & spiritually. The brethren who addressed the meetings spoke with considerable freedom. Bro W. H. Shearman has been released from his Mission, which will, no doubt, very much suit his feelings. He has imbibed the spirit of Apostasy to that degree that, unless he repents he cannot retain his standing, and there are others besides him.

Everything is working for the advancement of the Kingdom of God, and the accomplishment of his purposes.

May God bless & preserve you, and all the faithful

Your brother in the Gospel

Brigham Young
