Dear Sir:-

Yours of the 17th inst has been received.

If, as you say, you believe the doctrine taught by the Latter-day saints to be of Divine origin I would advise you to follow up your belief. The Latter-day saints when they come to understanding, view the "gathering" as a sacred obligation. There are many of our Elders now on missions to the east, some of whom will doubtless remain in your section, if you seek for & cultivate their acquaintance you will learn much more from conversation with them, than I can communicate satisfactorily in a brief letter.

Yours &c.

Brigham Young
