Mr. H. J. Seymour,
Meriden, Lasalle Co. Ill.

Dear Sir:-

Yours of a recent date has been received.

I take pleasure in answering you, & will briefly say that we have a number of Clerks & Book-keepers in our community, some of whom have employment in their respective business while others are variously engaged, as, in teaching school, farming, labouring &c. as circumstances may determine.

The Latter-day saints understand the gathering to be a part of their religion, which they carry out, in a great measure, putting their trust in Him who said "Seek first the Kingdom of God & his righteousness & all other things shall be added unto you."

Yours with respect

Brigham Young
