B. Burroughs, Esq.
54 & 56, Sherman St. Chicago. Ill.

Dear Sir:-

I am in receipt of two letters, one from yourself & the other from my nephew Mr. L Grand Young on the
subject of introducing gas into this city.

Several agents of Gas Companies have written to me on this subject & I know of one who visited this
City & made measurements & calculations; but the opinion is that the houses are too far apart -- even in
the business part of town to warrant the expense of laying piping.

Mr. H. B. Clawson of this City is in correspondence with some party east concerning the manufactory of
portable gas, and we will wait the issue of this experiment before proceeding further.

Yours with respect

Brigham Young
