Mr. M. C. Nickerson.

Dear Bro:-

Your letter of the 15th inst. asking counsel with regard to mining has been received.

The only counsel that I have to give any of the brethren about mining is to let it entirely alone, & go to work for an honest living.

As such, my counsel to you is to get a farm, and go to work like a man, and help to build up and beautify
Zion, and be one in your labors with your brethren.
For my part, I do not consider the lodes referred to worth anything, & will venture a guess that they
have not realized one dollar to the thousand expended, & if you can sell them to men that know nothing about mining operations it is surprising to me.
