Dear Bro:--

Yours of the 30th ult. propounding certain questions has been received, which I will briefly answer in the order in which they are presented.

1st. It is more proper for "the Elders who afterwards lay on hands", to seal the anointing, than for the Elder who anoints the sick.

2nd. When an Elder asks a blessing on the Sacramental emblems, he should use the words given in the Book of Doc. & Cov.

3rd. When an Elder baptizes any one, it is proper for him to say, what the object of the baptism is.

4th. It is not necessary for an Elder when confirming to say "receive ye the gift of the Holy Ghost" but simply, "receive ye the Holy Ghost.

Your views on these subjects are given in your letter are very correct.

Your brother in the Gospel

Brigham Young
